"Reunion"reunion
The fall of 2004 marked the 25th anniversary of the Petit Jean Performance Festival. In celebration, we departed from our normal practice of inviting a guest speaker and chose "Reunion" as our theme. Sally Roden, the founding director of the festival, was in attendance throughout, and helped host the event. A number of unique events were scheduled to honor of the occasion and the history of the festival. On Saturday afternoon, a festival "dinner on the grounds," took place. Participants prepared their favorite foods and shared a meal together. In lieu of our regular individual performance rounds for students, there were a number of special performance events at various sites in the park. Students (and faculty) shared family stories, stories about festivals past, and stories about friends who are no longer with us. For the group project, students used "The Legend of Petit Jean" as their primary text. Each group had the opportunity to interpret the legend using themes from festivals past. |
