Brian Richardson, Ph.D., joined the Communication Studies department at UNT during the Fall semester of 2001.  On the undergraduate level, he teaches Organizational Communication, Small Group Communication, Conflict Management, Leadership and Communication, and Crisis Communication. Dr. Richardson also directs the undergraduate Internship program. At the graduate level, he teaches Organizational Communication, Communication Consulting, Research Methods, and Crisis Communication. 

Dr. Richardson received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001.  His research interests include issues surrounding unethical behavior in the workplace (whistle-blowing, sexual harassment, unethical work climates), crisis/disaster communication, and hostage negotiation.  His recent publications include a book chapter in Steve May’s Case Studies in Organizational Communication: Ethical Perspectives and Practices, and a co-authored article in the International and Intercultural Communication Annual (2006).

Prior to attending UT, Brian worked for three years at a communication training and public relations firm in Houston , and one year as a supervisor in the transportation industry.  He received his M.A. in Human Relations and Supervision from Louisiana Tech University (1991) and his B.S. in Communication from Lamar University (1990).

On a personal note, Brian and his wife Cheryl stay busy raising their two children, Keith (born Sept. 11, 2002) and Ella Kate (born Aug. 9, 2004). Brian also enjoys working out, running, golf, reading, and traveling.
