Dr. Kelly S. Taylor, a North Carolina native, received her BFA in Acting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (1984), her MA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1990), and her Ph.D. from Louisiana State University (1994).  Her dissertation was on the autobiographical works of Anna Cora Mowatt, a nineteenth century playwright, author, actress, and poet.  Her primary research interest is in the history of Performance Studies.  She has published several papers on Anna Cora Mowatt, the Dutch Chambers of Rhetoric, and various topics relating to storytelling.

She currently serves as a member of the archive committee of the Performance Studies Division of the National Communication Association.  Dr. Taylor is also a past president of the Performance Studies Division of the Southern Speech Communication Association.  She is webmaster for the Communications Studies Department at UNT and for the Performance Studies Division of SSCA.

Dr. Taylor enjoys working with students.  She is faculty sponsor the Performance Interest Group and Lambda Pi Eta.  If you’d like more information about these groups feel free to contact her!
