Professor
Lawrence R. Wheeless (Ph.D. Wayne State University, 1970; M.A.
University of Houston, 1967; B.A. Texas Christian University, 1964)
teaches undergraduate courses in interpersonal communication,
relationship development, and nonverbal communication.
He also teaches graduate courses in interpersonal communication,
communication theory, special topics, and quantitative research methods.
His colleagues call him Bud Wheeless and most students refer to
him as "Dr. Bud." He
has taught at the U. of
Houston, Wayne State, Illinois State, West Virginia U., Texas Tech, and
Marshall U. Dr. Wheeless has held offices in international and
regional professional communication associations and served in
numerous editorial positions for those organizations including Editor of
Communication Quarterly.
His scholarship includes the publication of 12 book chapters, 3
books, and over 50 scholarly journal articles.
Twelve of his 92 scholarly papers presented at meetings of
professional associations have received awards. Professor
Wheeless resides near Krum, Texas on a hay farm with his spouse,
Virginia, and his two Bassett Hounds (Woodrow and Winifred).
His two sons, Greg and Loren, are in the computer industry in
Florida and in the aviation industry in New Mexico. |
