1481-1512 Hjr. 886-918 Molla Lūtfi wrote a treatise about the classification of sciences titled Mawdu'at-Ulum (Subjects of the Sciences) in Arabic and compiled a book on geometry titled Tad'if al-Madhbah (Duplication of Cube)

1525 Hjr. 931 Mīrīm Ēelebi astronomer and mathematician of contributed to the establishment of the scientific traditions of mathematics and astronomy and was renowned for the commentary he wrote on the Zij of Uluğ Bey.

1554 Hjr. 961 Musa Hamun appointed as Sultan Süleymān's physician and wrote the first Turkish and one of the earliest independent works on dentistry.

1562 Hjr. 969 Ali Reis wrote al-Muhit (The Ocean), on maritime geography. This work contains astronomical and geographical information necessary for long sea voyages and his own observations about the Indian Ocean.

1564 Hjr. 971 Jamal al-Kuttab wa Kamal al-Hussah (Beauty of Scribes and Perfection of Accountants) and 'Umdat al-Hisah (Treatise on arithmetic) by Nasuh al-Silahi al-Matraki

1583 Hjr. 991 Tārih-i Hind-i Garbī (History of Western India). This work, whose author is unknown, was presented to Sultan Murād III as a work which evaluated both the New World and Indian Ocean geographically.

1585 Hjr. 993 Taki al-Din al-Rasid combined the Egyptian-Damascus and Samarkand traditions of astronomy and mathematics in his studies and wrote more than thirty books in Arabic on the subjects of mathematics, astronomy, mechanics, and medicine.

2005 Hjr. 1426  Syria withdraws the last of its troops from Lebanon under UN Security Council Resolution 1559: UN Security Council Resolution 242 of 1968- calling for Israeli withdrawal from occupied land-- remains unfulfilled (Shaaba Farms)

2006 Hjr. 1427 Israel invades southern Lebanon; bombs Beirut and other Hezbollah 'strongholds' dropping clusterbombs in civilian areas, of which 100,000 remain unexploded and effectively devastating southern Lebanon.

2006 Hjr.1427 Hamas wins the Palestinian general election and the international community blocks economic aid to the Palestinian authority
