COMMUNICATION STUDIES STUDENT RESEARCH CONFERENCE

The Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Texas invites graduate and undergraduate students from the Southwest region to showcase their research at a student scholar conference held on the campus of the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.  The conference, which is designed to introduce students to academic forums in a comfortable setting, is held annually.

Graduate and Undergraduate Student Conference

April 24 and 25th


The Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Texas announces its annual student conference to be held April 24-25, 2009.    The theme New Voices, New Perspectives highlights the interdisciplinary approach of the conference. Submissions should explore theoretical and/or critical issues related to the study of communication. The scope of this conference is broad and may encompass a variety of areas including rhetoric, performance, organizational communication, interpersonal communication, CMC, health communication, and pedagogy.  The conference planners recognize and encourage research that addresses topics in all contexts and levels of analysis, employing a variety of methodologies. Monetary awards will be given for top undergraduate and top graduate research.

Guidelines for Submission:
Abstracts, full papers, performances & panel proposals are accepted with strong consideration given to completed research.

Submissions will only be accepted electronically:
Please submit all papers and panel proposals as a MICROSOFT WORD attachment to the conference planner listed below.  An e-mail acknowledging receipt of paper and panel proposals will be sent for each submission. 

Paper submission:

  • Complete papers are preferred, but paper abstracts will be considered.
  • Papers should include a 50-75 word abstract.
  • The title page should not include any author references.  Please remove all author references in the text of the paper. 
  • In e-mail please provide name(s), mailing address(es), email address(es) and phone number(s) of the author(s).

Panel/ Performance proposals:

  • Submit a word document that includes the panel title, brief abstract, rationale for the panel, and detailed abstracts for each proposed paper (if paper panel). 
  • In e-mail please provide name(s), mailing address(es), email address(es) and phone number(s) of the author(s).
