Personal Bio:
She enjoys spending time with her family, animals, and riding
and caring for her horses.
Research Interests:
Elaine M. Wittenberg-Lyles (Ph.D., University of Oklahoma,
2004) recently joined the faculty at UNT as an Assistant Professor
of Communication Studies. Her research program entails an examination
of the interpersonal processes occurring in the context of death
and dying. Prior to arriving at UNT she was at the University
of Texas, San Antonio where she remains an active faculty member
with the Geriatric Palliative Care Consultation Service at the
local V.A. hospital.
Notable Activities:
She is an active member of the Telehospice Project,
an international, interdisciplinary research team devoted to
research on the use of technology to support caregivers of hospice
patients (www.telehospice-project.org).
Recent Publications and/or Productions:
Recently, she co-authored Communication as Comfort:
Multiple Voices in Palliative Care, a book that details
the complexities of communication in end-of-life care. Her work
can be found in Qualitative Health Research, Health Communication,
and the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management.
